Solar Eclipse – Through the Eye of Pi

Eclipse

It’s not every day that you’ll find the Pi office deserted in the middle of a normal working day, but considering this was an eclipse that brought the Maha Kumbh to a standstill, we guess an exception can be excused. :) To top it all, looks like the lunch delivery has been delayed by more than an hour, as the cooks won’t cook during an eclipse!* (Jago India, Jago!)

Incidentally, this also happens to be the longest solar eclipse of this century, and we captured this quite glamorous picture from a decidedly unglamorous location (next to a septic tank behind the office)!

We’re still trying to figure out who magically conjured up the X-Ray plate through which we viewed the eclipse (believe it or not, we actually had to stand in queue!), but we’re sure you’ll agree that the plate in front of the camera lens did add a magical quality!

* Note to Management: Can we implement the Domino’s rule here… that lunch delayed by more than 30 minutes is free?

Get More Exposure for Your Business, through Real-time Search

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

87646229Real-time search is rapidly emerging as a popular way to find fresh information online. Traditional search engine results comprise static content wherein the Web pages are indexed based on complex algorithms (that order results based on various factors like authority, back-links, etc.). On the other hand, real-time search enables Internet users to access the most recent information instantly, with minimum intervention from search engine algorithms.

The growth of real time search has been primarily driven by the popularity of micro-blogging services like Twitter. Other social platforms such as Digg and Facebook are also major sources of user generated material that can be found through real time search.

With Google jumping into the fray, real-time search has now gone mainstream. Google real-time search updates its results constantly based on what is happening around the Web — i.e., tweets, Yahoo Answers, news articles and Web pages are now visible on the regular results page. Real-time search works on mobile too (iPhone and Android for now).

Google’s real-time search is based on new search technologies and the support of social networking platforms like Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, MySpace, Jaiku and Identi.ca. With Google rolling out real-time search results into its regular results page, there is now increased opportunity for you to get more exposure for your business.

We can help you get found in real-time searches by making use of an optimum mix of social media features, relevant “hot” keywords, topical content, social network development and easy sharing options for your content. Contact us now to learn more.
