Using Social Media To Target Your Audience

The success of your social media marketing strategy does not depend on the number of Facebook fans, Twitter followers or LinkedIn connections, according to social media experts. These experts use the term “influencers” to refer to the people whom you should have as connections as part of your social media marketing strategy. These influencers help by not only spreading the message but also by generating action. So your social media strategy should target these influencers and not the masses.

Influencers are credible people whose friends are most likely to act upon their advice. These influencers are users who not only post, but also respond to what other people have said. They are active in any social media site so depending on the product you offer, and the site you choose, you can target these influencers.

You can market yourself as an expert in your particular field. You can do so by engaging in peer-to-peer networking. You can also check on the questions being posed online and attempt to offer solutions if possible. The key to effectively targeting your audience is to imagine the site as a real social environment. So the people that you add as contacts are people that you want to engage in a conversation with, and not just market your product to.
